The XTP II CrossPoint® Matrix Switcher is a basic component of the XTP Equipment that tranfers 4K video signals to local and remote devices. 50 Gb per second digital backplane make sure that full compatibility with the best or highest video resolutions is in use, such as 4K/60 with 4:4:4 chroma sampling, and also provides an upgrade path for future new signal formats. The modular design allows the AV system to be tailored to the application’s needs. The optional input and output boards provide local distribution of HDMI, DVI, analog video and audio signals, and signals from or to remote XTP transmitters and receivers. Long distance transmission. XTP Systems® with the XTP II CrossPoint 1600 also offers a wide range of audio signal routing and management capabilities, including simultaneous integration of analog stereo audio and digital HDMI audio signals, HDMI audio embedding and de-embedding, and audio separation. The online XTP System Configurator provides convenience for a complete system design. With just a few mouse clicks, the XTP system changes from an empty matrix switcher chassis to a complete design that includes extenders, accessories and cables. The tool also provides a list of printable bills of materials, prices, and quote submissions. Once you have confirmed and received your order, the included XTP system configuration software makes it easy to install and configure right out of the box.

Easy to set up and configure

XTP Systems provides convenient, easy-to-use control software to configure, monitor, and operate AV systems. Multiple features help simplify system configuration and operation, as well as many common features of Extron matrix switchers, such as input/output storage presets and QS-FPCTM – a fast-switching front panel controller with three-color backlit buttons.

To enhance and simplify the integration of digital and analog AV equipment, the Matrix Switcher uses two Extron technologies: EDID Minder and Key Minder. EDID Minder automatically manages EDID communication between all connected input sources. This technology distributes EDID from any display device or pre-stored optional EDID information to any input. By maintaining continuous EDID communication with all sources, EDID Minder ensures that the source is properly turned on and reliably outputs content to the display device. For content-protected HDMI signals, Key Minder verifies and maintains continuous HDCP encryption between input and output devices, ensuring fast, reliable switching and simultaneous distribution of one source signal to one or more display devices. If an HDCP encrypted signal is routed to a non-compliant display device, the terminal device will output a full-screen green signal, which can visually confirm immediately that the protected content cannot be displayed on the display device.

EDID communication for all devices can be easily set up using the included software.

System monitoring and control

The XTP II CrossPoint 1600 can be controlled via RS-232, Ethernet and USB ports on the front panel. XTP Systems is able to transmit video and audio and control signals over the same cable, providing great flexibility for overall system control. A bidirectional RS-232 signal from the control system can also be plugged into the matrix switch’s Ethernet port for RS-232 control of the remote device connected to the XTP transmitter and receiver.

The XTP input/output matrix board, transmitter, and receiver all have bidirectional RS-232 and IR plug-in ports. Similarly, the control system can also insert an RS-232 signal into the XTP output board to support the display device through the XTP receiver. All of these flexible system control functions are enabled by the same cable for transmission control and AV and Ethernet signals. This simplifies the wiring structure and reduces system and labor costs.

Ethernet extensions expand network access and AV device control

Each XTP RJ-45 or LC connector on the XTP extender and XTP I/O matrix board is equipped with an Ethernet interface that provides centralized 10/100 Ethernet communication. These ports extend Ethernet signals from the matrix switcher to the remote terminal over the same cable, eliminating the need for additional network interfaces or switches. For example, a Blu-ray player at the source of the signal can receive Internet signals from the room’s local area network, which is connected to the Ethernet port on the XTP input board. The independent LAN of the control system controls the remote display device via the Ethernet interface on the XTP output board. Ethernet provides high-speed data links to the network or the Internet for easy and fast access to web pages or other network resources.

The Ethernet interface on the XTP I/O matrix board can also be connected to an internal shared LAN that supports system control and network access. This allows the control system equipment to be placed in the remote end position. This ability to extend Ethernet to a remote location provides great flexibility in setting up LAN access within the facility based on user needs and IT policies.

Power supply function

The use of the same CATx shielded cable to transmit video, audio, control signals and power supplies simplifies the integration of end-of-end devices.

  • The 50 Gbps digital backplane supports future 8K video — data rate requirements beyond the highest resolution video format, including 4K/60 signals for 16-bit, 4:4:4 chroma samples per color. It ensures lossless switching and distribution of video signals while maintaining signal integrity for the most demanding 4K video environments.

  • To simplify installation, the XTP CrossPoint matrix switcher can remotely power some of the XTP transmitters and receivers over the same CATx cable that carries video and audio signals. This reduces the need to power separate remote XTP devices.

  • Audio Separation — Separates the embedded audio signal from the corresponding video signal in the matrix switcher, routing two channels of PCM audio and video signals from one source to different end devices.

  • Additional input and output boards can be added at any time for easy and fast upgrades or expansions. The hot-swappable component allows the user to change the I/O board at any time without powering down the switch. This is especially important in mission-critical environments where uninterrupted systems are required to operate.
